The capital of Ukraine boasts both the tranquillity of an ancient city and the frenzy of a newly independent nation. The harmony of modern constructions and historical architecture, the greenery of its many parks and gardens together create a unique and refined aura. One can't help falling in love with St Sophia with its XIth century frescoes and mosaics, or with the golden domes of St Michael's Cathedral. Then there's Pechersk Lavra Monastery with its caves and the magnificent baroque of St Andrew's Church.
Kyiv offers a miraculous cultural and entertainment programme. The city features more than 20 theatres and great number concert halls, art galleries and exhibitions, as well as dozens of traditional restaurants, night clubs and casinos.
TENTATIVE ITINERARY
Day 1. Friday
Arrive at Boryspil International Airport. Transfer and check in to hotel *** Remainder of the day is free. In the evening: "Welcome to Ukraine Party" - dinner with folklore performance at traditional Ukrainian restaurant "Khata Karasya". Overnight in hotel.
Day 2. Saturday

Morning starts with city tour and sightseeing programme:
- visit to St. Sophia Cathedral, the oldest surviving church in the former USSR, dating back to 1037, when it was built during the reign of Prince Yaroslav the Wise. This majestic 13-domed church makes a huge impression on visitors with its rich frescoes and mosaics, many of which are still intact. It is a national shrine and is under the patronage of UNESCO.
- Lunch at a local restaurant
o Highlight of the day is a "must see" visit to Pechersk Lavra. This functioning monastery founded in 1051 by monks is situated picturesquely on a highland overlooking the Dnipro River. It boasts numerous churches, a bell tower and miles of underground caves housing ancient crypts, mummified priests and ecclesiastical objects.
- In the evening a programme for different tastes: ballet, folklore show, nightclub, casino.
Day 3. Sunday

The morning features an interesting trip to the Museum of Folk Architecture, which offers an informative walk through the history of Ukrainian peasants' houses, churches, featuring information about traditions, habits and country life of Ukrainian folk.

Day 4. Monday

Preparation for homeward journey. Transfer to Boryspil International Airport for return flight.
